Description

We are hiring a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our rehabilitation team. Candidates will provide therapy and rehabilitation services to disabled and elderly veterans residing at the Veterans Home of California – Barstow. Ideal candidates are compassionate and have a passion assisting veterans rehab. The individuals hired for these positions shall design a Plan of Treatment with appropriate exercises, procedures and techniques to promote an effective rehabilitation program. Must be patient and caring professionals who will encourage and inspire patients to strive toward independence and recovery. Responsibilities

  • Perform care consistent with the scope of licensure and in accordance with the CalVet Home policies and procedures with accepted Physical Therapy practices.
  • Provide Physical Therapy services pursuant to a consultation prescribed by the resident physician.
  • Evaluate referrals and analyze the extent of impairment, develop a treatment plan consistent with those findings, and communicate the treatment plan to the Resident and medical personnel.
  • Complete reports or assessments/evaluations and progress notes utilizing CalVet approved documentation forms in the Resident’s chart.
  • Maintain documentation on all residents referred for services. Records are to be kept in accordance with CalVet – West Los Angeles policies, Department of Public Health, US Department of Veterans Affairs, and Medicare Standards.
  • Attend staff meetings and conferences according to the Veterans Home of California – West Los Angeles resident care policies for treatment plans, and common resident treatment problems and/or issues.
  • Participate in appropriate in-service educational training programs.

Qualifications

  • Valid license issued by the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT) and a current and valid license issued by the Physical Therapy Board of California (PTBC).
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Twelve (12) months of experience performing physical therapy in a public or private institution preferred, but not mandatory.
  • Must pass Live Scan Background Check.

Salary: $35 per Hour - $45.00 per Hour depending on experience.
